There are many levels of quality or lack of quality, when it comes to buying custom mirrors.  We’ve all seen a bathroom mirror that started showing dark edges, especially beveled mirrors.  This is a sign of the laminated pieces coming apart from each other and a lower quality mirror.

The reputation of the company you want to order from.

Obviously, what we all want is the best quality at the best price, or in other words get the best value for our hard earned money.  At American Mirador Campbell Glass we understand this balance and make sure we only source mirror products at the best value for your money.

A custom designed wall mirror is a thing of beauty.  Whether in a bedroom mirror, living room mirror, or foyer mirror.  A mirror can draw the light and the eye. Our clients are always amazed with the room transformation after we install their new mirror.

The benefit of choosing a custom mirror over something bought off the shelf is you get the specific size and style to fit your décor and the type of room it will be installed whether it’s a large bathroom mirror, makeup mirror or a mirror installed in your living or dining room to allow more reflective light and make the room feel much bigger.

DIFFERENT MIRROR EDGES

Flat Polish Edge

In this application the edges of the mirror have been polished to a smooth shiny finish. Choose a flat polish when the edges of your mirror are visible and you prefer a minimalistic look.

Beveled Polish Edge

In this application the edges of the mirror are cut and polished in an angle with a specific Bevel Width to produce a certain “look”. This process leaves the mirror thinner around the edges and thicker in the center. This is normally used in places where the mirror is a focal point in the room. The Bevel Width around the mirror can range in size from 1/4″ to 1 3/4″ and specified by you. Please choose your Bevel Width when ordering you mirror.

Seamed Edge

In this application, after the mirror is cut the edges are sanded to dull the sharp edges. This is to make the mirror safe to handle. Choose a seamed edge if the mirror is to be framed and in applications where the edges are not visible.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF MIRRORS

Mirrors are usually made of plate glass

One side has a metal coating or any other material that will serve as the reflecting surface. There is a wide selection of mirrors created from different materials and for different purposes.

Plane mirrors

This type has a flat reflective surface. It produces an image that is about the same size of the object being reflected in it. In the past, plane mirrors were flat pieces of copper, brass or precious metal. Modern versions usually have a thin piece of plate glass. This protects the surface and keeps it from tarnishing.

Silver Mirrors

Silvering is a process that involved depositing a thin layer of metallic silver on glass. Silver has the highest degree of reflectivity. This reflects all wavelengths of light, resulting to a high quality reflective surface. Silver glass mirrors are normally used for decorative purposes as well as in furniture and bathrooms.
These are just the common types of mirrors. With today’s advancement in technology and the ever growing need for something new and innovative, it is not surprising that we will see more types of mirrors in the future, whether for home decor or any other purpose.

MOUNTING OPTIONS FOR YOUR CUSTOM MIRROR

Proper Mounting of Your New Mirror is Paramount for Your Safety and Long Life. Remember Mirror glass is heavy and fragile, so the supporting wall must be able to hold the weight.
